College can be a fun and exciting experience, however there are times where it can become overwhelming. There seems to be an infinite amount of responsibilities and deadlines that continue to sprung up on us. College life can be stressful and there never seems to be enough time to rest. Students need to find ways to relieve themselves from so much added stress and pressure that comes with this life.
Here are a few ways you can decompress from the stresses of being a college student:
Listen to Music

Music has been proven to be therapeutic and help relieve stress. Listening to some of your favorite songs while studying or preparing for class can be beneficial towards your outlook on the day ahead. Multiple music streaming platforms provide discounted rates for college students, i.e. Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, etc. These platforms have recognized the increasing use by millennials and younger generations that listen to so many hours of music throughout the day. Try popping in your headphones for a few minutes and provide yourself with a temporary escape from life.

Light a Candle, Burn some Incense, Lower the Lights
Create yourself an atmosphere of relaxation and peace. Sometimes in order to relax, you must alter the environment around you. Provide yourself with a tranquil oasis which sole purpose is to de-stress you from the outside world. Start by lighting some candles or incense with soothing scents, playing some oceanic music in the background, and lowering the lights to set the perfect atmosphere.
Get Rid of Those Bad Vibes
Sometimes you need to make all of those bad energies to just disappear. Cleanse your environment by burning some sage to remove all of those negative vibes and follow up by burning something sweet like sweetgrass. This will make sure that your mind, body, and surroundings are clear of anything negating your positivity.
Go For a Walk/Drive
Some people decompress by removing themselves from their room and enjoying a different atmosphere. Going for a walk helps clear your mind from them stressing weighing on your mind all while enjoying the freshness of outside. Also, just simply going for a drive can clear your mind in that the feeling of getting out and away from the place you were confined to presented you with a sense of freedom.

Hang out with Your Best Friends
Laughter is the best medicine. Often times the best way to forget about all the stresses of school is by surrounding yourself with the people you love…your friends. They know exactly what you are going through. They all have the same deadlines as you and can relate to your situation. There is comfort in finding people that you can relate to and have a good laugh with. Finding out all the funny stories and stress that your friends are going through can make you feel better about your own life.
