Things you should experience before graduating college

I know it’s a little cliché to have a bucket list for the four short years that you will probably be in college, however, there are experiences that are only going to come once while you are in college. This is your time to take full advantage of the opportunities presented to you now. Imagine going through your collegiate years not having done all the cool college stuff that your peers did—and paid for most of it. While you are sitting in your dorm room or on your free time in between classes, start jotting down some things that you would like to experience before you graduate. These can be both academic-related or non-academic, but make sure you have a couple things that may be a little outside of your comfort zone. Push yourself a little bit to experience some of the highs of college life, but all while not sacrificing your grades.

If you may need some help, here are a few things to jump start your College Bucket List. And as a reminder, this is completely up to you. Only you can make up your college experience and make it worthwhile.

Study Abroad

If you’ve got the travel bug in you, study abroad. The best experience is hands-on, and what better classroom than in Europe, Asia, Africa, or even Australia. Studying abroad can get to be expensive, however, the experience that you will get will be unforgettable.

Join a Club/Organization

Having a hard time making friend? Why not join a club to meet some new people. Some employers look to see if you were involved on campus during college. There are literally clubs for everything. You don’t even have to join an academic chapter. Join something silly or what suits your interests, i.e. the Disney Club, the Gamers Club, etc.

Go to a College Party

This is probably not the best advice but who hasn’t gone to a college party. And trust me, your parents probably have not told you about the crazy parties they went to. College parties are essentially the most defining experience in your college experience. This is where students go to let loose and make all kinds of stupid decisions free of judgement. If this is on your list, have fun but always be careful and know your boundaries. If you attend a “party school” these can get pretty crazy.

Experience Homecoming Want to add a caption to this image? Click the Settings icon. In the 21st century, Homecoming is not for the alumni. We have reclaimed Homecoming weekend as our personal celebration. Homecoming week is always crazy. There are the campus activities during the week, the concert, the tailgate, and the game all meant to celebrate school spirit. Definitely, you have to experience at least one.

Go to the Games

Football games are always the most anticipated sport event at colleges. I am not a big football fan, however, the student experience at football games are meant to be iconic. Especially is you attend a school that apart of the SEC, your experience is suppose to be iconic.

Experience College Week Spring Break

Just like with college parties, this is like the ultimate college party but on the beach. College Week during spring break is the ultimate party week that are held at beaches nationwide as a means for college students to forget about school temporarily and just have fun.
